  • Manhattan Project WS (view here)
  • Day 83 Quiz*
  • Batteries WS (view here)
  • Day 84 Quiz*
  • Water WS (view here)
  • Day 85 Quiz*
  • Tie Dye WS (reading)
  • Day 86 Quiz*
  • Tie-Dye Lab (bring white 100% t-shirt, 3 plastic grocery bags, 3 pieces corrugated cardboard)
  • Canvas: Final Review
  • Final (Comprehensive) Exam
In your notebook:
  • Chemistry of Color Reading
  • Utah State Chemistry Core
The Chemistry Final is COMPREHENSIVE.
It is worth nearly twice as many points as a regular unit test.
There is NO retake for the final.

PREPARE ACCORDINGLY.

Finals are 5/24 (A1-A3); 5/28 (B5-B7); 5/29 (A4 & B8;)
Tie-Dye Lab Supplies Assignment:  Yes, this is worth points.
On the day of the Tie-Dye Lab (5/22 or 5/23) students are assigned to bring:
  • 3 plastic grocery bags
  • 3 pieces of corrugated cardboard*  (About 1 foot square for spiders & spirals, approximately 0.5 x 3 ft for stripes, fans, and bullseyes.)
  • A white 100% cotton t-shirt (Yes, it can have a logo screened on it (like a Spirit Bowl t-shirt) if you don't want to find a blank shirt.
*That's 3 pieces of corrugated cardboard.  Cut up a box and bring the pieces-- do NOT bring a box to class!
What about the final?
What's on the final? What should I study? How should I study?  How many questions?  Is it like the SAGE?  Is it like the homework?  Can I have a 3x5 card?
  • The final is 75 multiple choice questions.
    • The final is made up of five questions for each one of the 15 Standard-Objectives in the Utah State Chemistry Core.
    • The six standards of the Utah Chemistry Core are linked at the bottom of this page.
    • Each standard contains either two or three of the 15 Standard-Objectives that your chemistry final is based on.
  • The final counts for twice as many points as a unit test.
  • There is no retake on the final.  It is FINAL.
  • You may write notes on both sides of a 3" x 5" card.  (No photocopies or printouts.)
  • Your teacher will provide you with a copy of this equation sheet to use during the test.

What are the questions like?

The questions on the final are very similar to the ones on the four Canvas Reviews from Unit 16A and the Unit 16B Canvas Final Review-- they came from the same state test item bank.  You may even see some of those questions again.
  • The 40 questions on the Canvas Final Review are from the same item bank as the test.
  • The six Canvas assignments titled "Practice Questions: Standard ___" are also from that item bank.
    • Your SAGE Report tells you which of the six state standards you need the most work on.
    • You are STRONGLY encouraged to do the Practice Questions assignments for any Standard you did not receive a proficient score (840 or above) for on the SAGE.
The class period after your class completes SAGE testing, your teacher can give you a full score report for your SAGE test. Your score report will show a scale score and performance indicator for each of the six chemistry core standards and ILOs.
Picture
The areas with the lowest scale scores and/or those marked with a "-" indicator are the ones you need the most review on before the final.  Click on the appropriate Standard or ILO in the list below to get more details:
  • Standard 1: Structure & Origin of Matter
  • Standard 2: Atoms & Energy
  • Standard 3: Chemical Bonds
  • Standard 4: Chemical Reactions
  • Standard 5: Equilibrium
  • Standard 6: Solutions
  • ILO1: Science Process and Thinking
  • ILO2: Scientific Attitudes and Interest
  • ILO3: Science Concepts & Principles
  • ILO4: Scientific Communication
  • ILO5: Social and Historical Aspects of Science
  • ILO6: Nature of Science
Unit 16 B Late Work Deadline
(The FINAL Deadline)

is 2:45 pm, 5/23
Nothing other than the final will be accepted after that deadline!
*If you missed a quiz due to an excused absence, you will need to come to the classroom to make it up.   It is in the Quiz binder at the front of the class.  Take the quiz on your own half-sheet of lined paper, fill out a late-work-form, staple it to the quiz, and turn it into to LATE basket.  If you are making up a quiz due to a tardy, it will cost a punch on your slacker pass.
